The outside visit
The park opens at 10 am every day.
Façade fronting the main courtyard: only the central brick-and-stone building, with its steep Henry IV style roof is a relic of style original structure. In the Edwardian era, in order suitably to receive crowned heads and leading political, artistic and literary personalities Henri de Breteuil - whom Proust has pictured under the transparent pseudonym of Bréauté - undertook large scale alterations. To him are due the construction of the two wings at right angles.
Façade overlooking the park: the formal garden - ornemental lakes, lines of trimmed cypresses and box-edged beds - was designed in about 1900 by Duchêne, in accordance with the Le Nôtre's principles. The first plans of the domain show that they were already formal gardens.
In addition to the visit of the park and the formal gardens,exhibition of the five Tales of Perrault ( the Sleeping Beauty and the prince Charming) .

The inside visit
For individual visitors
The chateau opens every day at 2.30 pm.
The château de Breteuil offers to the visitors a unique serie of remarquables rooms particularily well decorated with very interesting historical reconstitutions, such as the presentation by Louis-Auguste de Breteuil in 1779 of the Treshen Treaty to King Louis XVI and to Queen Marie-Antoinette or the lunch in 1905 between King Edward VII of England at the home of his old friend the Marquis de Breteuil.
Among many interesting rooms open to the visit, you will notice the salon of the Four Seasons decorated with panelling of the Louis XV period, in the Rocaille style. It owes its name to four magnificent "portières" of Gobelins tapestry, of the regency period, representing spring, summer, automn and winter.
The château's most precious treasure is undoubtedly the so-called "Teschen" table or pedestral table, which was offered to Louis-Auguste de Breteuil by way of gratitude for his efficient mediation between Prussia and Austria in 1779.
The dining-room with its wood panelling of the Louis XV period and its Gobelins tapestry and the smoking room are among many others signs a testimony of this grand and prestigious house.
Exhibitions, conférences, lectures, children's performances, récitals are given regularily in the setting of the orangery, raised from its ruins in 1972.
