Presentation

In the heart of the Ermenonville forest, only 40 kms from Paris, discover the fabulous home of Nélie Jacquemart-André. The castle has been built by Jean Aubert in the18th century on the grounds of an 12thcentury abbey.

Mrs. Jacquemart-André, the widow of the famous banker Edouard André, was a wellknown and hugely experienced collector of arts and she brought during her life masterworks from Giotto, Houdon, Boucher, Pajou and many other famous artists, mainly from the French XVIII century.

This unique collection is displayed in the the interior of the splendid Abbaye Royale de Chaalis which itself alternates the Renaissance, XVIII century and Empire styles.

The estate has been given to the Institut de France in 1912, at the death of Mrs. Jacquemart-André.
